The Color Purple (1985) Is the Steven Spielberg adaptation of Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. David Russell's, natural sense of composition and time of day is wonderfully captured in his pencil sketches. Especially moving is his ability to capture expressions with shading and dimension not found in the work of many board artists.
